Many Covers Monday - The Future of Us
Today we're looking at the many different covers of The Future of Us. Some are rejackets and others are foreign language covers.
It's 1996, and Josh and
Emma have been neighbors their whole lives. They've been best friends
almost as long - at least, up until last November, when Josh did
something that changed everything. Things have been weird between them
ever since, but when Josh's family gets a free AOL CD in the mail, his
mom makes him bring it over so that Emma can install it on her new
computer. When they sign on, they're automatically logged onto their
Facebook pages. But Facebook hasn't been invented yet. And they're
looking at themselves fifteen years in the future.
By refreshing their pages, they learn that making different decisions now will affect the outcome of their lives later. And as they grapple with the ups and downs of what their futures hold, they're forced to confront what they're doing right - and wrong - in the present.

US and UK covers! Weirdly enough they've used the same couple, although the UK cover has gone with a lighter, more fun feel that matches the book quite well. The US cover seems a bit Dystopian to me!
Germany (left) went Beatles whilst Spain (right) decided to use the girl as pillow. But more of a war feel on Spain's, what with the Poppies. I don't know what the heck Germany was thinking.
I actually love these covers, as they're beautiful and they show what the book is about as well. The Danish cover (left) is really simple with the two computers (although there is only one in the story) but eye catching too. And I love the Facebook feel of Italy's!
And finally, Sweden went with some plastic balls.

Which was your favourite?
Ooh, Italy is definitely my favourite of the lot, though I agree that the Danish one is good too. Why the heck Sweden chose some plastic balls is completely beyond me though, hahaha
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the Danisn cover, bit bemused by both the Swedish and German covers!
ReplyDeleteAha the Swedish cover is quite funny. I think if I were Swedish and happened to read the back of the book I would probably scrunch up my face in confusion! I hope they're not as bad at picking covers for their other books!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like the Danish one best because to me it best represents the story. The Swedish cover actually does as well, but it's one of those that you won't get until you've read the entire book...which I actually kind of like. :P
ReplyDeleteItaly is definitely the best! :D

I like the Italy and UK covers best.
ReplyDeleteWhat were Germany and Sweden thinking?!?
