Stacking the Shelves (12/04/2014)

Three books received this week! I recently read The Rule of Claw and City of Screams is a companion novel to that, so I had to have it, of course!

I'm currently on a Courtney Summers binge and I now own all of her books, except This Is Not A Test, which I read on my kindle app, so I need to buy a real copy of that.

I do already have a paperback copy of Fangirl (and I loved it) but I wanted a hardback too, because US Hardbacks are seriously nice.

There was supposed to be one more book here, Jenny Han's To All The Boys I've Loved Before, but the Royal Mail didn't deliver it and won't let me pick it up for 2 days. It's a complete shambles at the sorting office and I'm seriously annoyed because I was going to start reading that today.

Question of the week: What was your least favourite book so far this year?
(Mine was Love Letters To The Dead)

Comments

  1. Oh, I love the way you pictured the books!
I only read This is not a Test by Summers but I want to get her other books sometime too!

(My least favorite book so far: Dear Killer)

    1. Thank you, it took me ages! I'm surprised about Dear Killer, that's been plugged a lot lately. Mind you, so has Love Letters To the Dead...

  2. Oooh Fangirl! I'd love to get that book. Maybe next time I'm ordering books. =D

My least favorite book so far was Angelfall by Susan Ee. I'm really not a fan of books with angels in them...

    Happy Reading!

    1. If you get the paperback there's a few extras, including illustrations, which is why I'm keeping mine! But hardbacks are so pretty...

Ooh dear, Angelfall is on my to read pile! I don't mind Angels though, so I'm hoping I like it. It'll be my... third book with flying people in it this year.

  7. Fall for Anything is the only Courtney Summers book I haven't read. Hope it's good, just like her other books were.

I also have a hardcover of Fangirl but I never read it. Don't know why exactly. I'm just bad at reading the books I buy. They usually sit on my shelves, unread.

  9. Nice haul. I recently read Fangirl and didn't like it very much, but I am literally the only one it seems so I am sure you will be fine. I am dying to read To All The Boys I've Loved Before, it looks AMAZING!!! I hope you enjoy your books :) My STS.

I'm on a contemporary kick right now and I've never read any of Jenny Han's books before, so I'm really looking forward to reading it... if I ever get it...

I've read quite a few books that really didn't work for me already this year. I think the most disappointing was one by Gillian Bradshaw -- I normally enjoy her work, but this one was a yawnfest.

I need to finish reading Fangirl soon! I like it, but ugh, I'm reading too much at once.

  12. I've seen a lot of Fangirl lately, but I haven't read it yet. The only book of Courtney Summers' I've read is This is not a Test. But I wasn't too impressed. Glad to see you like her books. Happy reading!

    Thanks for visiting my haul.

  13. YAY for Fangirl - I keep seeing it at Asda for £3.50 and I still haven't bought my own copy of it... Maybe next time. :D

  16. I cannot wait to read To All the Boys I've Loved Before. That book is in my tippy-top books I dying to get my hands on. I hope you get your copy soon. I really liked Fangirls, but don't have a copy yet. I actually prefer paperbacks so will snag a copy when it comes out in PB in the US. Lol. Great haul and happy reading!

  20. Nice haul, there's nothing like the smell of a new hardback :) I'm probably one of only a small few, but I couldn't get into Fangirl. The Fanfic dialogue made me skim half the book :(

I think my least favourite this year was Anything to Have You by Paige Harbison. It was horrible, needing therapy kind of horrible.

    Enjoy your new reads! :)

    1. I really enjoyed the fanfic but I can see why it's not for everyone! I read one of Paige Harbison's books a while ago and really enjoyed it, sad to hear this one isn't as good. :/

  21. This is not a test has been on and off my wishlist for a year now as I can never quite decide whether to read it or not! I think I'll look at the blurb again and make a decision...happy reading and thanks for visiting me!

  22. Nope, I have too many "least favourite reads" (gah, how awful am I??!). The Last Thirteen series bugged me the most, I think. I felt my intelligence slipping after that. >_< I loved Fangirl!!

    1. Oh dear! I'm enjoying books more this year but no matter how many times someone gushes about Love Letters To The Dead, it's both weird and downright rude in places. My review should be coming up in a week or so where I basically rant about how rude the main character was to the celebrities.

  23. Ooh, Fangirl! I'm loved that one so much and am so glad you enjoyed it too! As for my least favorite reads so far this year, it's probably The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. I loved her Iron Fey series but this spin-off was so boring and the protagonist annoying. :(

Anyway, thanks for stopping by my STS earlier on, have a great week ahead!

    1. I've never read that series! I've only read The Immortal Rules of her books but I really enjoyed it.

  24. I love Fangirl! I read it on my iPad and then promptly purchased a hardcover copy, too. I prefer to read ebooks, but I just love hard copy books so much I have to have my favorites on my shelves. :)

Least favorite book of the year? That's a toss-up. Of the ones I've finished, I have to say The Best Kind of Broken by Courtney B. Jones. I forced myself to finish it, hoping it would get better. It didn't. It was so bad it actually pissed me off. One of my biggest disappointments this year was Side Effects May Vary. I'd looked so forward to that one and I hated the protagonist.

    1. I've been avoiding Side Effects May Vary because I thought that I might not like the protagonist, funnily enough!

  25. Oh, I love what you did to the books! How creative :)

I haven't read Fangirl. It comes highly recommended but I wasn't the biggest fan of her other book, so... I'm a little hesitant.

My least favorite book? Hmm.. Forbidden and Waiting on the Sidelines.

Least fave book this year: The Queen's Choice by Cayla Kluver

  32. Oh I have heard so many people saying how amazing Fangirl is! I think I might have to check it out and see what all the fuss is about :)
I'm not sure what my least favourite book would be so far, maybe Deep Surrendering - it's not that it was bad, but it was just a huge step away from the author's previous work which I had actually enjoyed.
