Weekly Update (04/05/2018)

This week I sadly said goodbye to April, rolled up my sleeves and dived into May. I have too many NetGalley books due this month on top of a large wishlist of books I want to read but I'm determined to catch up. I've also decided on a rule of fours for NetGalley - only four books due for review each month. That should really cut down on my TBR.

The only exciting thing happening in my day to day life was that I saw a man chasing his pet ferret down the high street. And I may have slipped on a buy button while window shopping online. New kettle? What new kettle? Never seen that blender before in my life...

Received This Week On NetGalley

Hopefully the last large list you'll see on here! My reviews for May, June and July are all booked up and I only have one slot left for August so unless a publisher unleashes there autumn catalog on me, we should be safe.

Read This Week

I managed 5 books this week, basically binge reading the Everlife series. It was good, but there was far too many erotic scenes for me - and it is supposed to be a YA! Reviews up on my blog now. I really loved The Smoke Thieves, that got a 5 star rating and the review will be on my blog tomorrow. If I had a list of books I'd give to myself as a child, The Company Of Eight would like be on top, it's a fantastic fantasy story about a girl who wishes to become an acrobat. Review will be up.. sometime next week. I'm squeezing everything in!

Stop by on Monday to see the many international covers of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard! Wednesday I'll be discussing my ongoing problem with series books this year.

  1. Chasing a pet ferret? I imagine a ferret is a slippery customer to catch... yikes.

The Island looks interesting, and Company of Eight looks fun too!

  2. Haha, wow, you don't often see someone chasing a ferret down the high street! I used to walk my Grandad's ferret on a lead down our road, and that always used to get some fairly odd looks, so I imagine chasing a loose ferret would definitely get a lot of attention! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed all these books! I've seen that a lot too though in other series that are supposedly YA, but then have loads of erotic scenes in them. It always seems so unnecessary!

  3. Nice new reads! I haven't heard of these! Netgalley is definitely kinder to me than Edelweiss is, but then as I was looking at the "open" requests I saw that there were 3-4 that haven't been answered whatsoever, and I already bought the book itself because it released! Lol! Sadly haven't read the ones I can think of at the moment, mostly because on was from last week and the other is 800+ pages! Thinking of saving that one for a holiday weekend read or something! Lol!

Hope you enjoy your new reads!

    1. I tried Edelweiss for all of one day, was declined for every request and decided to leave - my problem with Edelweiss (apart from just how horrible it is to use) is that there's no UK site or section really, compared to NetGalley, so I don't know if I'm being declined because I don't have over 1000 followers or simply because I'm in the UK.
