Many Covers Monday - Ruby Red

by - July 02, 2012

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!
Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

US and German covers. I know, no US/UK to start? Well Ruby Red was originally German and then translated you see. I like Germany's cover, she looks like she's going to poke his belly button.

Spain chose a lot of keys (grab yer broomstick 'arry!) and Italy went the a stereotypical YA Paranormal cover - a cover that will, in fact, be in another MCM post...

And here are UK's takes! Possibly. The first one may be US. I love the first cover, not a fan of the middle-grade look of the second to be honest.

Poland needs a hairbrush and Norway has some writing stuck to her nose... I do like Poland's though.

Which was your favourite?

  1. I really like Spain's cover with all the keys, I haven't heard of this so will be looking out for it. I really don't like the UK cover and definitely would picked it up judged by that! Great post

  2. I love to look at covers of books from all over the world. Before I became a blogger I just thought that covers for books were the same around the world. I didn't realize they were different!

  3. I like the US HB edition. Also, the 1st UK one as well. <....This Russian one is also nice. <....This US PB one looks alot like that UK one. Also nice. <...This Indonesian one has a nice Steampunk feel to it.

Now, a few covers you didn't feature that I am NOT impressed with: <....German <.....Vietnamese <.....Czech (No offense, but this looks like a graphic novel's cover.)
