Stacking The Shelves (07/06/2014)
Important Things
I updated my blog background! I hope you like it.
I've read 50 books this year, which is 50% into my reading goal!
This week was Hug Your Cat day and National Donut Day, so feel free to catch up.
Books Bought This Week
I didn't buy any books this week.
...
...
I'm sorry, I couldn't keep a straight face. The books in Asda are really cheap and I hadn't seen these before and if I didn't buy them they might not be there later...
Am I convincing you yet?
Book Photo Challenge
I've started a book photo challenge on Tumblr, hosted by Books And Cupcakes! It's a lot of fun and my first photo challenge too. You can find my posts here. Any maybe even follow my blog? I'm shameless.

Read This Week (31st May - 6th June)
Er... I have far too much time on my hands? It's a mixed bag this week. I was so looking forward to Welcome To The Dark House but I was sadly very disappointed. Too any questions left unanswered. Remembrance was good, but could have been better. Will Grayson, Will Grayson took a little to get into but by the end I was in love with it - definitely one for the re-read shelf. More Than This just blew my mind, it's incredible. Everyone should read that at least once. Marionette is the third book in the Dollhouse series and just left me feeling confused and upset. Perfect Lies... I haven't actually finished yet. It's only 7pm Friday night and I have 50 pages left, so I added it to the post anyway. Heh.
Marionette - Anya Allyn (3/5)
Hey, I read two sequels this week, go me!
Vickie x
Argh, I can't wait to read More Than This, I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much. I try not to look at the books in Asda. I'd want to read them all! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy Asda is literally across the road from me and I'm addicted to books, so buying boos from there is inevitable!
DeleteAch, what a shame that your books didn't live up to expectations. It's a bummer when that happens. I hope you have better luck with your books this week!
ReplyDeleteSome of them more than lived up to my expectations! The ones than I enjoyed overshadowed the bad ones, so I found it a pretty enjoyable week for books. :D
DeleteI'm really loving the new background! It suits your theme perfectly. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOoh, thank you! Still loving your moving header too.
DeleteI loved More Than This! Mind blowing? YUS. I can't even...nope. Every third page I was just staring weirdly, and I don't quite get how it all ended, but I loved it. x) Fangirl is the best and Ohhhh, I'm looking forward to trying Will Grayson! I've heard mixed things, but *shrugs* I'm attempting to read ALL the John Green books.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I want to read all the David Levithan books too but mostly because of his bizarre hipster book references that I must find. I'm going to be the weirdo looking at Salinger next Wednesday. And I shall wear my hipster crown proudly.
DeleteI've been intrigued by Will Grayson/Will Grayson since I first heard of it, but I've yet to get around to reading it. I love John Green. I love David Levithan. I'm not sure how I could go wrong. :) I really need to read More Than This, too. I've heard so many great things about it.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
My StS + Bonus Giveaway!
OMG, you must read it. It's amazing!
DeleteYou read a lot faster than I do. Hexed looks really good. I hope you love your new books.

Books of Love
Great haul! And that's a lot of books in one week! Go you! I've seen mixed things about the Dark House. Not sure I'll read it.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that's funny! That would be like me saying I didn't breathe today, right, Vickie? Your new books look awesome, I hope you'll enjoy them.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by earlier, have a wonderful weekend.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Upon what you said I definitely want to try Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Also want to finally start on the Patrick Ness series. Too bad about Marionette - love the cover.
ReplyDeleteI like shameless. I just became a follower ;-)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Shameless - i love the tv series - check it out if you haven't already.
I tried reading More Than This, and for some reason I just put it down. I hope to pick it back up again soon though. I'll check out your review to see what you thought of it. :) Also I saw Fangirl in your Tumblr pics, and I so loved that book!!! Just remembering it and seeing the cover made me smile. :) Enjoy your new goodies this week!
ReplyDeleteOh that's so nice! I'm really curious about Hexed and I liked Fangirl. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHexed sounds really good, enjoy it :) My STS.
ReplyDeleteGreat haul, enjoy! Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome haul! Hexed sounds so amazing and I've been hearing really great things about it! I hope you enjoy your books! (:
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I love the background. Hope you enjoy all your books. I enjoyed Will Grayson, and I'm not a fan of Patrick Ness, but I keep trying!
ReplyDeletePhoto challenges are awesome! Great idea! And I think the only book I've read of your new books is Take Back the Skies - I wasn't a huge fan :\ I hope you love all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I love the photo challenge idea! And I really, REALLY need to read More Than This. Because I love Patrick Ness, and I need this book. In fact, I think because you rated it 5 stars, and because I have had two glasses of wine, I am going to pre-order the paperback ;) I kept waiting to find it on sale, but why bother? I have Will Grayson, Will Grayson on my bookshelves, I really need to read that one too. Hope you enjoy the new books (you know, the ones you absolutely did NOT acquire.)
ReplyDeleteYou did not read six books in a week!!!!!!! I am so jelly! I am a slow reader and can only read 1 book a week! Teach me your ways! Haha
ReplyDeleteGreat haul this week..I just got finished reading Hexed and it was an okay read and I want to read all the other 5 books you read this week too.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! :D
oh yeah, your blog is so darn cute!!
ReplyDeleteI want your Superpower. Seriously. I used to be able to read a lot (I read like 600+ pages in a day) now I don't have the concentration for it. I blame addictive TV Shows. A. Lot. I didn't even know Hexed was out over here, though I do want to read it and see for myself, but some of the reviews have put me off it. I had Take Back the Skies last week and yeah, I DNF'D it 50% in. Hope you enjoy it better though!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine
Kirsty @ StudioReads
I have an awesome superpower. :D
DeleteIf you want to try Hexed (I presume you're in the UK), it's £3.85 in Asda, so nearly half the price it woul be in other bookshops.
I absolutely LOVED Welcome to the Dark House! I don't read horror, ever lol, but this scared me! I don't know if I'm just a baby or what!! O.O Also you were mentioning questions left unanswered, there is a sequel that's why :D
ReplyDeleteI've got Take Back the Skies to read also, I hope we both like that one!
Have a lovely week! ♥
There's a sequel? That explains it. Weirdly the author commented in my review and never mentioned that... which would have been helpful. I don't think I'll be picking it up though.
DeleteAnya Allyn writes great gothic paranormal! Hexed looks good too! Enjoy all your finds!
ReplyDeleteYay for reading sequels! I rarely seem to read those lately. :D Hexed and More Than This look so good! I'm looking forward to reading those ones. I hope Perfect Lies went well for you. It was a bit disappointing for me. Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteI have Welcome to the Dark House too! I had thought it was a standalone too. Enjoy your new reads!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how Hexed is. Every time I go to pick it up, I put it back on the shelf (or should I say, the proverbial Internet shelf lol). I hope to hear your opinions on it soon! :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda @ Of Spectacles and Books
I'm not familiar with your additions. Hope you enjoy reading them all though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my STS :)
I absolutely loved More Than This as well. Didn't it mess with your head? It was my first Patrick Ness novel and was blown away as well. I bought Will Grayson recently too, but have tried to read it once before, but it was so confusing. Seeing you loved it so much by the end, I'm determined to persist with it. Thank you so much for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteOooh, I just got Hexed and Take Back the Skies the other day!! Great haul, Vickie! I hope you are enjoying your week! :)
