Many Covers Monday: Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock

Today we're looking at the many different covers of Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick and choosing a winner! These may not be the complete collection of covers, just as many as I can find or the most interesting from around the world.

Leonard Peacock is turning 18.
And he wants to say goodbye.

Not to his former best friend, whose torments have driven him to consider committing something tragic and horrific.
Nor to his mum who's moved out and left him to fend form himself. But to his four friends.
A Humphrey-Bogart-obsessed neighbour
A teenage violin virtuoso
A pastor's daughter
A teacher
Most of the time, Leonard believes he's weird and sad but these friends have made him think that maybe he's not.
He wants to thank them, and bid them farewell.

(UK/US)
I'm not sure which book started the text only covers, but I really do like them.

(UK - Possibly. It's often very hard to tell whether a book cover is UK or Australian)
I love how the blue cover looks like a story about a jazz band.

(German/Spanish)
Germans: Forgive Me sounds too depressing for a book about depression and teen suicide and guns. Let's put Happy Birthday and some trees on it, okay?

(Slovak/Italian)
Fun fact: The Italian cover doesn't always feature a white boy. Here's another version of the same cover, with a completely different model.

And there you have it! Not exactly cheerful covers, most of them but this book does deal with a very difficult subject. I gave this book 4 stars out of 5, because while I enjoyed it, I just think it's description was a little better.

Ooh. I love posts like these. <3 Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock is definitely a book that I want to get a copy of soon.

I don't LOVE any of these covers, but the ones I like are covers 1, 2,3 and 5. With perhaps cover number 5 being my favourite. Oh, and cover 4 isn't terrible either.

Also, just a little side note, in Australia, the majority of our covers are the UK editions. It's very rare that we get an edition that's unique to Australia. At least from my experiences.

Thanks for sharing a great post, Vickie!

  2. You may be surprised, I've seen a fair amount of Australian covers when I've been making these posts! But yes, UK and AU often share covers.

  3. I like the cover next to the jazz hat one...I think it conveys the story a lot stronger with that...sadly I haven't yet got my hands on the book!

I am not a massive fan of only text covers but in this case the only text covers are the best. I am not a fan of the birthday-related covers.
